« Cette semaine, nous publions un extrait de Désolé, plus d’essence: L’innovation architecturale en réponse à la crise pétrolière de 1973, un projet de 2007 que nous partageons en ligne dans le désir de le rendre plus accessible et d’en souligner la pertinence dans le contexte actuel. Dans cet extrait, Adam Bobbette survole différents projets souterrains incluant le Underground Space Center et les Convertible Hillside Homes de Mark Mack, deux projets dont la documentation se trouve dans notre collection. Il débute ainsi:

« Alors que de nombreux architectes et scientifiques se tournent vers les énergies dérivées du soleil et du vent, d’autres décident d’exploiter les possibilités de la terre. Pendant les années 1970 et 1980, le mouvement de l’architecture sous terre ne parvient pas à s’entendre sur une terminologie normalisée pour désigner les structures souterraines (underground) ou enfouies (earth sheltered). » »
